Another youth dies with Covid-19 symptoms in Thakurgaon

An octogenarian man who tested positive for Covid-19 infection, died at his village home in Panchagarh early morning today, while a 23-year-old youth died with coronavirus-like symptoms at Thakurgaon yesterday.

With the octogenarian, the number of deaths from Covid-19 in Panchagarh stands at two, while the number of infected people is 55.

Confirming the death, Debiganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Hasinur Rahman said the elderly man returned from Dhaka on May 12 and died at his native village in Chilahati union under the upazila.

His samples were collected on May 16 for Covid-19 test and sent to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. The report came back positive for Covid-19 on May 18.  

He had been suffering from respiratory illnesses and different old-age complications and was receiving treatment in home isolation, Dr Hasinur added.    

In Thakurgaon, a 23-year-old youth died with coronavirus-like symptoms at a pre-isolation ward of Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital yesterday.  

Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital Dr Rakibul Alam said the youth, hailing from Vanor Chengthihara village in Baliadangi upazila of the district, was admitted at the infirmary yesterday morning with respiratory illness and low blood pressure.

He breathed his last at 1pm while undergoing treatment at the infirmary, added Dr Rakibul.  

His samples were sent to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital for coronavirus test.

He was buried at his family graveyard following strict health guidelines as outlined by the WHO.
