Spike in Covid-19 infections continues

3 more die, 790 test positive in 24 hours: DGHS

Three people died with coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.

The death toll now stands at 186, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.

Seven hundred and ninety people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of positive cases detected in a day in the country so far.

With this, the total number of infected has reached 11,719.

A total of 6,241 samples were tested in 33 labs across the country since yesterday, Dr Nasima added.

Two of the deceased were male. Age-wise, two were above 60 and another between 41-50 years old.

Of them, two were from Dhaka, the DGHS official revealed.

A total of 184 people were put under isolation across the country in the last 24 hours, she added.

No new patients of Covid-19 recovered in the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number stands at 1,403.
