Coronavirus: Govt to brief diplomats this evening

The government will brief diplomats stationed in Dhaka at 6:00pm today at State Guesthouse Padma on the coronavirus issue.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will share the steps taken by the government to deal with the situation.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen will attend the briefing.

Dr Momen will also share the government's plan to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during the briefing, an official told UNB.

The foreign minister will speak to the media after the briefing.

Three more persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Bangladesh yesterday, raising the current number of affected people in the country to five.

Today, the government shut down all educational institutions for the rest of the month to prevent the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh cricket team's scheduled Pakistan tour has also been suspended.
