Coronavirus claims life of another police personnel

Another police personnel, who earlier tested positive for coronavirus, died at a hospital in Dhaka early today.

The victim Md Touhidul Islam, a police constable, stationed at Airport Zone of Uttara Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), breathed his last at around 12 am today while undergoing treatment at Central Police Hospital in Dhaka, according to a release of Police Headquarters (PHQ).

Touhidul, hailed from Rangpur district, left behind his wife, a son and a daughter, as well as many relatives and loved ones.

His body was sent to his native village and buried there at the family graveyard following health directives where senior district police officials were present, the release reads.

With the death of Touhidul, around 37 members of the force have so far lost their lives to Covid-19.

As of yesterday (Thursday), the total number of infections from Covid-19 in the police force was around 9,578, according to a tally of PHQ.
