Shutdown recommendation logical, announcement anytime now: State minister

Terming the recommendation of shutdown logical, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the government has a preparation like this and the announcement of the shutdown may come anytime, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

The state minister came up with announcement hours after the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 recommended "complete nationwide shutdown" for 14 days to curb the surge of Covid-19 infections.

State Minister Farhad Hossain told Prothom Alo, "Strict restrictions are being imposed in several places of the country due to rapid surge of Covid-19… The government has been closely monitoring the rise of infection for the last few days."

The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) recommendation for nationwide complete shutdown is logical, the minister said, adding that the government is also thinking of strict restrictions and the decision may come anytime.
