Masks mandatory in all places of worship, says religious affairs ministry

Amid fears of a possible second wave of Covid-19 during the winter, the government has once again issued a notification making it mandatory to wear masks in all places of worship including mosques, temples and churches.

Religious Affairs Ministry issued a notice today in this regard.

In the notice, it was said that the religious ministry issued notices at different times making it mandatory to wear masks in all places of worship to prevent transmission of Covid-19.

In recent times, it was noticed with deep concern that the use of masks is being relaxed all over the country, especially in mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions, the religious ministry said in the notice.

The government on October 25 instructed that wearing of masks be ensured everywhere including religious institutions to prevent a second wave of Covid-19 infection.

New instructions have been issued in continuation of the previous notification, reads the notice.

In the notice it was said all worshipers in mosques must wear masks. Before prayers, mosque authorities will inform people through loudspeaker about this.

Banners should also be displayed at the gates of the mosque in this regard.

Followers of other religions, including Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians, must enter their respective places of worship wearing masks.
