Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today ordered that all recognised kitchen markets and super shops must close by 5:00pm.

Neighbourhood stores for essential goods can remain open until 2:00pm, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of DMP.

However, all kinds of medicine shops will remain open round the clock, he said.

Earlier, on April 6, DMP ordered closure of kitchen markets and super shops by 7:00pm. But it issued the new order today as the government yesterday restricted public movement after 6:00pm, police added.

DMP has taken the decision as part of the government's initiative to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
