Khagrachhari Ansar member found Covid-19 positive 6 days after death

A member of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party have been found positive for Covid-19 six days after he died with coronavirus-like symptoms at Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital.

The deceased, Mofizul Islam, a member of 37 Ansar battalion of the district, died at the isolation unit of the hospital on June 13, Dr Mitan Chakma, deputy civil surgeon of Khagrachhari, told The Daily Star.

Mofizul was admitted to the hospital on June 12 with fever and breathing problem, Dr Mitan Chakma said.

"Test report of Mofizul's sample came on June 19, six days after his death," the deputy civil surgeon said.

"It is really difficult to give proper treatment to coronavirus infected patients in Khagrachhari, as the test reports are coming after several days," he also said.

In Khagrachhari, 147 people have tested positive for coronavirus till today, Dr Mitan added.
