Ctg SI dies with Covid-19 like symptoms

A sub-inspector of Chattogram's Sitakunda Police Station, who had been suffering from fever and cough, was found dead at his home in Sitakunda upazila this morning.

His sample was collected after his death to test for coronavirus infection, reports our correspondent.

SI Akramul Islam (48), of Cumilla, had been suffering from Covid-19 like symptoms for three days and was taking treatment at his residence near the police station, said Additional Superintendent of Police Shampa Rani Shaha of Sitakunda circle.

He lived alone, the ASP said.

His colleagues went to his home this morning as his sample was scheduled to be collected. Getting no response, they managed to enter the house and found him dead, she added.

His body will be buried in Cumilla following due procedures.

Last month, a constable of Chattogram district police died of coronavirus. According to district police sources, a total of 151 police personnel in Chattogram tested positive so far. Several of them have also recovered.
