Evidence suggests that the coronavirus pandemic is moving eastward of India and a rise has been noticed in the number of daily cases in five eastern states, including West Bengal and Assam, along with rising mortality, according to the Indian Health Ministry.

This was stated at a high-level meeting of Indian Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan with the states of Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand last night, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

The review meeting assessed the arrangements put in place by these eastern states for containment and management of the Covid19 pandemic.

West Bengal and Assam share borders with Bangladesh.
