Covid-19 death toll in Bangladesh crosses 12,000 mark

33 dead, 1,230 infected in 24 hours

Thirty-three people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

This is lowest number of deaths due to Covid-19 recorded in the span of a day since March 26.

With these, the total number of deaths so far reached 12,005 and death rate stands at 1.55 percent.

At least 1,230 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,76,257, added the release.

The daily number of infections is also the lowest since March 14 when infection count was 1,159.

The current positivity rate is 8.67 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.71 percent.

A total of 14,184 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 3,044 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,15,321 and the recovery rate at 92.15 percent.

Among the 33 deceased, 21 were men and 12 women while two were between 31-40 years old, five between 41-50, 10 within 51-60 and 16 were above 60 years old, added the release.
