Covid-19: 33 die, 2,654 infected, 1,890 recover in 24 hours

Thirty-three people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.

With this, the death toll due to Covid-19 in the country has reached 3,267 and the death rate now stands at 1.32 percent.

Two thousand six hundred and fifty-four people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

With the fresh cases, the total number of positive cases so far in the country stands at 2,46,674 and the current infection rate is 23.78 percent.

The total infection rate stands at 20.35 percent, according to DGHS.

Bangladesh is currently 16th in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.

The position is one step ahead of Turkey and one step behind Italy, according to worldometer.info.

A total of 11,160 samples were tested in 83 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 1,890 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries stands at 1,41,750 and the recovery rate at 57.46 percent.

Seven hundred and fifty-eight people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima added during the briefing.

Among the deceased, 25 were male and eight were female while two were within 31-40 years old, four within 41-50, eight between 51-60, 10 between 61-70, six within 71-80, one between 81-90 and two were within 91-100 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
