Covid-19: 22 dead, 1,292 infected in 24 hours

Twenty-two people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With this the total number of deaths reached 12,480 and death rate stands at 1.57 percent.

At least 1,292 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,94,985, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 8.12 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.50 percent.

A total of 15,915 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 1,291 Covid-19 patients have recovered in this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,35,157 and the recovery rate at 92.47 percent.

Among the 22 deceased, 14 were men and eight women. Of them one was between 21-30 years old, one within 31-40; three between 41-50; six within 51-60 and 11 were above 60 years old, added the release.
