Covid-19: 786 test positive in 24hrs in biggest jump yet, total nearly 11,000

Seven hundred and eighty-six people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of positive cases detected in a day in the country so far.

With this, the total number of infected has reached 10,929.

One person died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in their briefing today, alongside confirming the number of positive cases.

The death toll now stands at 183, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, during a briefing.

The sole deceased was male, aged between 21-30 years old, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 193 Covid-19 patients have recovered around the country in the last 24 hours. The total recovery number stands at 1,403 including people who have recovered at home as well as in institutionalised care, the DGHS official added.

A total of 5,711 samples were tested across the country since yesterday, Dr Nasima said.

A total of 128 people were put under isolation across the country in the last 24 hours, she added.
