Coordinated effort brings high score for students

Hard work and coordinated effort can bring a good result in education in remote areas, as seen in the case of the Panthabari Balakandi Government Primary School in Kurigram. The institution's students have earned top scores with hundred percent pass rate in Primary School Certificate Examination for the last five years (2009 to 2013) at Rajarhat Upazila of the district.
Last year, 42 students of the school participated in the examination and all of them scored GPA-5. The school was set up in Balakandi village of Omar Majid union under Rajarhat Upazila of the district in 1941. A GPA-5 student, Habiba Aktar, said that the teachers took great care of studies and inspired the students to learn to succeed in their lives.
According to the school's headmaster Ayub Ali, the main reasons of the school's success are: conducting regular classes, special care for weak students, creating consciousness of guardians and keeping activeness to SMC. “We offered extra service for the students in addition to class routine in the school. Besides, I involved nine teachers who would search about their studies in their houses and take care of them in need,” Ayub Ali added.  
President of the SMC Abdul Awal Sarker said, “The main reason of the continuous great result is that the teachers are cordial. There are not enough class rooms for around 350 students, and it is located in a remote area, but the school has never taken a step back when in case of student's learning and results.
