Communications ministry gets new name

The Ministry of Communications has been renamed Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges.

According to sources in the ministry, it has been done to avoid “complexities arising at international level” due to the name ‘Ministry of Communication’, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports.
Meanwhile, the Road Division has been renamed Road Transport and Highways Division.
The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification, signed by the Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, in this regard today.
Earlier on April 28, 2011, the government revamped the ministry combining the roads, bridges and railway.
