Youth stabbed dead while celebrating Holi festival in Old Dhaka

A seventeen-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death in Laxmibazar area of Old Dhaka this afternoon.

Deceased Raunak Hossain, son of Md Shahid Mia of Kamrangirchar, was a second year student of New Paltan Line School and College, Azimpur.

He came under the attack when he was celebrating the festival of Holi, the festival of colour of the Hindu community, around 12:30pm today, Md Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, told The Daily Star.

He was taken to a local clinic but was referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead around 1:30pm, the OC said.

“We are looking into the matter to find out the motive behind the attack,” the police official added.

None was arrested yet.
