Youth crushed between buses in Jatrabari

A youth died today crushed between two buses in Dhaka’s Jatrabari during the office-hour rush, a result of what the victim’s family is saying reckless driving.

The victim, Zillur Rahman, 32, worked as an employee at a privately-owned company. Father of a two-year-old daughter, he was a resident of Demra area.

He was waiting for a bus at Jatrabari intersection when two buses squeezed him flat, killing him on the spot, said pedestrian Al Amin, a witness to the incident.

Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman said he heard of the incident and that one of the buses was detained. The driver, however, managed to flee.

The victim’s uncle Golam Mahmud Milon, claimed that it was a case of reckless driving. While talking to The Daily Star, he demanded exemplary punishment.
