Yaba peddler gets 7yrs in jail

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to seven years' imprisonment in a case file for peddling 10,000 Yaba pills.

The court also fined Lokman Mia, 38, of Rangunia upazila, Tk 5,000 in default to suffer two more months in jail, said Public Prosecutor Fakhruddin Chowdhury.

The Department of Narcotics Control filed the case with Kotwali Police Station after it had arrested Lokman with 10,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk 30 lakh in a market of Riazuddin Bazar in Kotwali area on June 19, 2017.

A charge sheet was submitted on August 2, 2016 and a Chittagong court framed charge against him on October 24, 2016.
