Worker dies falling from Rangpur building

A construction worker died as he fell from the third floor of a four-storey under construction building in Rangpur city yesterday.

Lutfar Rahman Lalu, 26, slipped while placing a window grille in the building of Rangpur Collectorate School and College, said witnesses.

His co-workers took him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The workers said there was no safety net around the building.

The institution authorities said there is no contractor to supervise the construction.

Principal Manju Ara Parvin said the workers did not ask for such a safety net before.
