Worker dies from 'electrocution'

A tannery worker died from what appeared to be an electrocution in the capital's Hazaribagh yesterday.

The deceased Abul Kalam, 28, used to wash rawhides in Amin Tannery and lived with his wife and two children in Boubazar area.

Kalam's coworkers said he must have been turning on the electric water pump and got electrocuted from the switch.

“I heard a loud bang from the room where he worked and when I rushed there I saw him lying on the ground motionless,” said Golam Sarwar. Kalam was declared dead after he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
