Double-decker bus catches fire in Arambagh

A double-decker bus caught fire in Arambagh of Dhaka this morning due to a technical fault.

The incident took place near Notre Dame College around 10:00am, Nazma Akhter, duty officer of fire service headquarters, told The Daily Star.

No one was hurt in the incident as all the passengers managed to get off the bus safely, she said.

On information, three fire fighting units of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 10:45am, the duty official added.

The bus used to ply Mughda-Gazipur route, she added.

Meanwhile, a video of the fire incident posted by a passenger on Facebook who was travelling on the bus, shows huge smoke is coming out of the vehicle.

The passenger claimed in the post that the fire originated due to a technical fault in the engine of the bus.
