‘Vatican has honoured Bangladesh’

The newly-appointed Cardinal Patrick D’ Rozario today said the Vatican has honored Bangladesh by appointing the first ever cardinal from the country.

“We are happy and jubilant because the creator has blessed Bangladesh. Pope Francis has honored Bangladesh by inducting a cardinal from this country,” the Bangladeshi cardinal said while speaking in a reception accorded to him.

The world will learn Bangladesh’s tradition of harmonious coexistence of various faiths and ethnicities anew through him, he added.

The archdiocese (the district for which an archbishop is responsible) of Dhaka organised the reception and a prayer service at the Saint Mary’s Cathedral in the capital, says a press release.
