'UPs strengthened thru project'

The Union Parishad Governance Project has enhanced institutional capacity of Union Parishads through engaging people in planning and budgeting, speakers told a workshop at the capital's Biam auditorium yesterday.

The UNDP-supported project was implemented from 2011-2017 under Local Government Division. Dhaka University's Prof Dr Salahuddin M Aminuz-zaman, LGD Secretary Abdul Malek, UNDP Bangladesh country director Sudipto Mukerjee and UPGP coordinator Oliullah spoke at the programme.
