Unknown woman found dead inside auto-rickshaw near DMCH

An unidentified woman has been found dead inside a CNG-run auto-rickshaw near the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The woman aged between 20 to 22 years bore several injury marks on her body, Sub-inspector Bachchu Mia, also in-charge of DMCH police camp, told The Daily Star today.

A couple along with the woman boarded a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from Mirpur-12 in the capital around 11:00pm yesterday and told the driver to go to the DMCH as their daughter is sick, SI Bachchu said quoting the driver.

One hour later, when the auto-rickshaw reached the DMCH gate, the couple fled away leaving the victim inside the auto-rickshaw, police said.

The driver with the help of police took the victim at the DMCH emergency unit where doctors declared her dead, SI Bachchu said.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police detained the auto-rickshaw driver for interrogation.
