Two from Sylhet region make it to central round

The Sylhet regional round of the fifth session of "Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef-2018" was held in the city yesterday, selecting two winners for the competition's final round to be held in Dhaka.    

The two winners -- Ashim Sharma and Ripna Begum -- secured their tickets to Dhaka after defeating a pool of candidates. 

Earlier in the day, all 67 participants took part in the regional competition held in Sylhet city's Sonar Bangla centre. The regional competition was divided into two sessions.

All the candidates took part in the first session. After being scrutinised, 28 got cooking cards for the second session.

Asma Fatema, who was chosen for the second session, said, "I love cooking, and it is an ideal platform to showcase my cooking skills. So, I could not resist myself from participating in the competition."

Another contestant, Mohammad Mosarraf Hossain, said he used to work as a chef's assistant at a Dubai hotel for 8 years.

"I hope this competition will help me show my cooking skills…," he said.

Finally, after examining the participants' skills, Ashim and Ripna were selected for the final round to be held in Dhaka. The duo received Super Chef aprons from judges. 

Mila Manjushah, Zebunnesa Khan, Nasrin Hossain and Hasnat Jahan Shimu were the judges.

Anika Rahman of Bangladesh Edible Oil Ltd was also present.
