Two remanded

A Chittagong court yesterday placed two accused on a three-day remand in a case filed in connection with the murder of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Sudipto Biswas.

The court of Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Shahadat Hossain Bhuiyan gave the order after Amir Hossen alias Babu, 20, and Khairul Nur Islam, 20, were produced before the court with a five-day remand prayer for each, said Kazi Shahbuddin, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.

Amir and Khairul were arrested from Lalkhanbazar area on Tuesday night after gleaning information from Moktar Hossen, a Jubo League man, who was arrested from Boropol area on October 14, said police.

Sudipto, an assistant general secretary of Chittagong city BCL unit, was beaten to death near his house in the city's Nalapara area on October 6.
