Two killed as villagers clash in Mymensingh

Two persons were killed and 15 others injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a trifling matter at Char Sirta village in Mymensingh Sadar upazila yesterday.

Sathi Akhter, 35, daughter of late Elim Uddin; and Delwar Hossain, 32, son of late Mofiz Uddin, of village Char Sirta.

Quoting locals, Kotwali police said Hafiz Uddin and his neighbour Helal Uddin along with their supporters locked into a clash with sticks and sharp weapons as the former had been refusing to leave some space for constructing a road in the area. Of the injured, 10 were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Police detained 14 people, including six women, over this.
