Two killed as trains hit them in capital

Two people including a woman were killed in two separate train accidents in the capital yesterday morning.

One of the deceased was identified as Milona Akhter, 35, while the identity of the other could not be known immediately, Ali Akbar, a sub-inspector of Dhaka Railway Police Station, told The Daily Star.

In Khilkhet, Milona was hit by Mohanganj-bound Mohua Express while she was crossing the rail track around 9:00am, the SI said.

Critically injured Milona was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

In Banani, a man, aged around 40, was killed as Chittagong-bound Mohanagar Probhati train ran him over while he was walking on the rail line around 8:05am, the police official said. He died on the spot, he said.
