Two more HIV-positive refugees found

Two more HIV-positive Rohingya refugees were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) yesterday.

Chon Khatun, 50, and Shahjahan Beghum, 60, both hailing from Maungdaw, were referred to CMCH from Ukhia Health Complex in Teknaf, said CMCH police outpost's Nayek Amir Hossen.

Shahjahan is also infected by Hepatitis C virus, said CMCH's Director Brig Gen Md Jalal Uddin, adding that the two will be provided with necessary treatment and medicines.

Earlier, one Rohingya refugee was diagnosed with HIV, and development organisation Ashar Alo is taking care of the refugee, said the director.
