Travel alert for Australians

The Australian government yesterday issued another travel alert advising its citizens to reconsider their plans to travel to Bangladesh.

“There is reliable information to suggest militants may be planning to target Western interests in Bangladesh. Days of national significance, such as Victory Day (December16), can provide an opportunity for terrorist attacks,” read the travel advice.

When asked, a Bangladeshi diplomat said the travel advice is a routine one and most countries across the world issue such updates on regular basis for their nationals living abroad.
