Traffic police stabbed, mugged in Dhaka

A traffic constable was stabbed and mugged in Dhaka’s Saidabad area this morning.

A group of muggers swooped on constable Mobarok Hossain and his wife Sumi Akhter in front Islami Bank Hospital around 6:00am when they were returning home from Saydabad Bus Terminal.

They stabbed Mobarok in his leg and snatched away some Tk 5,000 and his mobile phone, Inspector Mozammel Hoque of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost, told The Daily Star.

“They came to the DMCH for treatment. It was a minor injury,” Mozammel added.

The criminals also snatched gold earrings of Sumi, another DMCH source told the daily.

The gang also robbed of Rashed, a Dhaka College student, at the same time. They took away his mobile phone and some money.
