Trader 'abducted' at gunpoint yet to be traced

A trader and his driver, allegedly abducted in Chandgaon area of Chittagong city three days ago, are yet to be rescued.

Abdul Hakim, 34, a resident of Chandgaon in the city has an herbal medicine factory and is also involved in real estate business, family members said.

Hakim and his driver Ismail, 28, went missing while they were returning home from the factory on Tuesday night. Next day police informed them about Hakim's car which was found in Bahir Signal intersection area, they added.

Later, family members filed a case as Hakim's mobile phone was found switched off and none contacted with them demanding ransom.

During investigation, a staff -- Selim Sarkar who was with Hakim while he was returning home -- said around 10 armed people in three white micro buses stopped their car and drove away with Hakim and Ismail after kicking him out of the car, police said.

As his statement seemed suspicious police detained him for further inquiry.
