Tobacco items seized in Ctg for having no pictorial warning

A mobile court seized around 3,000 cigarettes and other items from the warehouse of Dhaka Tobacco Industries in Nasirabad area of Chittagong city yesterday.

Other items are 800 cans of chewing tobacco (jorda), 48 umbrellas, 42 teacups, 4,000 match boxes and 4,000 lighters. The cigarettes and jorda jars were seized for having no pictorial warning on those, said Chittagong district administration Executive Magistrate Tahmilur Rahman who led the drive. Other items were seized as advertisements of cigarettes were found on those, he said, adding, the value of the seized items would be about Tk 1 lakh. The court also fined the authority concerned Tk 30,000.
