Tk 230 crore holding tax due in DSCC, DNCC

Local Government Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain today told the parliament that Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporation have Tk 230 crore over as due holding tax from house owners.

Of the total amount, Mosharraf said Dhaka South City Corporation has an overdue holding tax of Taka over 73 crore while the North City Corporation has Tk over 157 crore as overdue holding tax from individual house owners.

"There is no house without holding number under both the city corporations," he informed the House while replying to lawmakers’ queries.

He also said there is no scope to impose holding tax on the under-construction houses and realise tax from those owners.

The minister added that the city corporation usually initiates imposition of holding tax and realise it after the construction of the houses.
