Tangail appreciates feat of its three daughters

Tangail District Administration accorded a gala reception to three of AFC U-16 Women's Championship's qualifiers from Bangladesh on Thursday.

They are: the U-16 women's football team's captain Krishna Rani Sarkar, and players Ruma Akter and Josna Akter, all hailing from the district's Gopalpur upazila.

Tangail Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mahbub Hossain presided over the function held in the DC office conference room.

The DC declared to give Tk 5,000 every month to each of the three as their education costs up to the levels they want to continue their studies.

A local trader, Ashraf Hossain, gave bags, trousers and tracksuits as gift to the girls studying at Suti VM School in the upazila.

Golam Raihan Bapon, the school's sports teacher and the football coach, was also honoured at the function.

Among others, lawmaker Monoara Begum, Civil Surgeon Syed Ibne Sayeed, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Shariful Haque and Senior Information Officer in Tangail Kazi Golam Ahad were present.

Commending the girls, speakers at the programme encouraged them to go ahead and maintain continuity of their success. 

While addressing the event, Krishna expressed her determination to do well in the final round and take the country's female footballers to a new height.
