Three drown in Pirojpur

Three people drowned in different upazilas during Eid vacation.

They are Syam, 12, son of journalist Mizanur Rahman of Mathbaria upazila, Razib Khan Raju, 25, son of Jahangir Khan of  Pirojpur Sadar upazila, and Zakir Hossain, 45, of  Nazirpur upazila in the district.

Syam's family members said Syam went missing from his village home at Uttor Mithakhali village on Monday. Later he was found dead in a pond of the house in the evening.

Raju went missing around 11:30am on Wednesday when he went to bathe with his friends at Badura canal under Pirojpur Sadar upazila.

Locals said he came to his village home from Dhaka to celebrate Eid. Raju dived into the canal but could not get up  due to strong current as well as a lot of water hyacinth.

Locals found Raju's body floating in the canal, police said.

Zakir Hossain, a motor mechanic and a patient of epilepsy disease, drowned in the River Kaligana when he went there for ablution for Maghrib prayers on Wednesday.
