Threatening publisher: Ctg lawyer gets bail

A Chittagong court yesterday granted bail to a lawyer who was arrested on charges of giving death threats to a publisher on Tuesday.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Mehnaz Rahman passed the bail order to Advocate Tipu Shil rejecting the five-day remand prayer, said police.

Earlier on Wednesday, police arrested Tipu in the port city's Bakalia area for allegedly giving death threats to one Jamal Uddin, owner of publication house Balaka Prakashan.

Jamal, also the general secretary of Chottagram Srijanshil Prakasok Samity, filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali Police Station following the incident.
