Tank ‘blast’ in Dhanmondi burns 6

Six people were burnt in a fire triggered by an “explosion” at a water reserve tank in Dhanmondi of Dhaka this morning.

The six people included a security guard of the building and five workers, who were working at the tank for the last two days.

The incident took place at a four-storey building at Dhanmondi road no. 4 in Dhaka city around 10:45am, said Helal Uddin, inspector (investigation) of Dhanmondi Police Station.

The burnt people sustaining severe burn injuries were undergoing treatment to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Partha Sangkar Paul, a resident surgeon of the DMCH burn unit.
