Tamim led militant attacks at different places: IGP

Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque yesterday said Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury was not only the mastermind of the Gulshan and Sholakia attacks, but he led militant operations at different places in North Bengal, Dhaka, Tangail, Pabna, and Kushtia.

Shahidul was addressing an event where families of four policemen killed at Gulshan and Sholakia, were given financial aid by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA).

A total Tk 1.28 crore was disbursed among the families.

He also announced that from now on, three persons of a family of a police staff killed while on duty, would continue receiving rations.

From the funds of DMP and BPSA, the families of police officers Rabiul Islam and Salauddin Khan, who were killed in the Gulshan attack, were given Tk 54 lakh each and those of constables Jahirul Islam and Ansarul Haque, who died at Sholakia, Tk 7 lakh each.

The families of sub-inspectors Faruk Hossain and Sujan Kumar were given Tk 2.17 lakh each, while Sub-inspector Noor Jamal received Tk 1.66 lakh.

The three sub-inspectors were injured in the Gulshan attack.
