Strong legal actions needed to stop sexual violence against women

Say rights activists

Strong legal actions should be taken against all forms of sexual violence against women, rights activists demanded yesterday.

At a human chain organised marking International Day of Rural Women, they further said incidents of sexual violence against females are rising due to a lack of punishment.

The National Committee on Observation of the International Rural Women Day organised the human chain before Jatiya Press Club in the capital, said a press release. The day will be observed today in 50 districts across the country.

Representatives of different rights organisations participated at the event, where President of the National Committee Shamima Akhter, its Secretary Ferdaus Ara Rumme and Secretariat Coordinator Mustafa Kamal Akand spoke.
