Gold found inside man’s wig at Dhaka airport

A man was detained after 13 gold bars weighing around one-and-half kilogrammes were found inside his wig at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night.

Detainee Md Aminul Haq, 45, of Munshiganj, arrived in Dhaka by a Malindo Air around 10:30pm yesterday, HM Ahsanul Kabir, assistant commissioner (AC) of customs, told The Daily Star.

With specific information in arsenal, the customs officials challenged Aminul when he was crossing the green channel at the airport.

The officials first searched his body but did not find gold, AC Kabir said adding that the gold was detected in his body when he was taken in archway.

The officials later recovered the 13 gold bars from his wig. The estimated price of the gold is Tk 65 lakh.

Later he was handed over to the local police.
