Six lives lost

Six people were killed and 15 others injured in road accidents in three districts on Friday and yesterday, according to our correspondents.

In Bagerhat, two people were killed and at least 15 others injured as a bus hit a truck parked beside Dhaka-Khulna highway in Faltita area of Fakirhat upazila yesterday.

The deceased are Nasrin Akter, 25, of Daibayahati of Morelganj upazila; and Monir Sheikh of Baloibuniya village in the upazila, said police.

The injured were admitted to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, Khulna Medical College Hospital and other local hospitals. In Jessore, Ridoy Hossain, 20, son of Alamgir Hossain and a student of Khajura Siraj Uddin Degree College, died after a goods-laden truck hit his motorcycle in Labutala area of Sadar upazila yesterday.

Another truck hit an unidentified motorcyclist while he was crossing Jessore-Jhenidah highway in Khairtola area of Sadar upazila on the day.

In Chittagong, one person was killed as a covered van flipped on its side while its wheels were being replaced in the city's Tiger Pass area yesterday. The deceased, Jahir, 17, of Fatikchhari upazila, was the helper of the vehicle's driver.

Meanwhile, domestic help Kohinur Begum, 55, wife of Shajahan, died as a truck hit her in Sadarghat area of Chittagong on Friday night.
