Six burglars held in port city

Police arrested six alleged burglars, who steal goods from vehicles on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Gazipur routes, in Chittagong, Jessore and Gazipur on Tuesday.

They are Alam Saodagar, Yusuf Ali, Azizur Rahman, Hamidul Islam Labu, Yusuf Khan, and Md Billal.

Police conducted the drives following a case filed by Energy Pack Engineering Ltd on June 21.

The company claimed a portion of their consignment of 4,500 metres of electric cables was stolen while it was being taken to its power station in Gazipur from Chittagong port by a truck on June 17.

Police said they also recovered Tk 7 lakh from Alam's house in Chittagong city yesterday which he got by selling the stolen cables.
