Awami League mayoral runner Anjum Sultana Sima, who lost in Comilla City Corporation election, today blamed the conspirators inside her party for the defeat.

“I feel ashamed to honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the conspirators,” Sima told The Daily Star over phone while sharing her post-polls reaction this evening.

Sima, without clarifying about the conspiracy, said she has accepted the election result showing respect to the people’s verdict.

Asked whether the conflict in local Awami League was responsible for her defeat, Sima said the AL central leaders will find out the causes of her defeat.

Congratulating her rival BNP candidate Monirul Haque Sakku, Sima said voters have elected whom they considered proper and qualified as mayor.

Sima also said she is ready to co-operate the mayor if he (Sakku) seeks any assistance from her for the betterment of the Comilla city dwellers.

Talking to reporters at Comilla yesterday, Sakku said he will be more careful this time so that he does not make any mistake while carrying out his duty as mayor.
