SI closed for 'taking bribe'

A sub-inspector of Gopaldi investigation centre in Araihazar has been closed to Narayanganj police lines yesterday on the charge of releasing a drug peddler after taking bribe.

The closed SI is Kazi Rakib.

“The decision was taken as per the order of the superintendent of police in Narayanganj,” said OC MA Haque of Araihazar Police Station.

On Wednesday, an alleged drug peddler was held with 460 bottles of Phensedyl in Araihazar area. The SI allegedly released him in exchange for money, said the OC.

“An investigation is ongoing in this regard,” he added.
