Sheepa Hafiza new ASK executive director

Sheepa Hafiza, a renowned human rights activist, is going to be the new executive director of Ain o Salish Kendra. She will join the post on April 1.

Nur Khan Liton,  a director of ASK, has been discharging as acting executive director of the organisation since February last year after prominent righst activist Sultana Kamal left the post.

Sheepa Hafiza is a seasoned executive widely recognised for her expertise in areas including policy advocacy for extreme poverty reduction, programme development, organisational change management, capacity strengthening. She is also a rights advocate for gender justice, migrant labour rights, says a press release.

She has received several awards including the Communication for Sustainable Social Change Award from the University of Massachusetts, USA, to honour her work on migrant's labour rights, and the Best Practice Award for Gender Norm Change.

ASK, a national legal aid and human rights organisation, provides legal and social support to the disempowered, particularly women, children and workers. Since its inception in 1986, the organisation is working to create a society based on equality, social and gender justice and rule of law.
