Shakil remembered in Mymensingh

A meeting in memory of Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, late special assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was held in his hometown Mymensingh yesterday.

Shakil Swaran Shabha Committee organised the meeting at Town Hall, marking his first death anniversary.

Awami League Joint Secretary Dr Dipu Moni addressed the meeting as the chief guest.

Shakil's father Advocate Jahirul Hoque Khoka, former administrator of Mymensingh Zila Parishad and president of the district unit of AL, spoke.

Besides, State Minister for Textile and Jute Mirza Azam, AL leaders Asim Kumar Ukil, Ahmed Hossain, Marufa Akhter Popy; and Mymensingh Mayor Ekramul Haque Titu addressed the programme chaired by the committee convener Kabir Uddin Bhuiyan.

The committee member secretary Moazzem Hossain Babul delivered the welcome speech.

Shakil died of a cardiac arrest at a restaurant in the capital on December 6 last year. In 2008, he was appointed as a deputy press secretary to the prime minister. He started working as a special assistant of the premier in 2014.
