Journalist Shafik Rehman, who was denied permission to go abroad, was relieved of the sanction before he left for London today to see his ailing wife.

“He departed for London in a flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:00am,” Sajib Onasis, his personal assistant, told The Daily Star.

Currently in bail in a case filed over alleged attempt to abduct and murder prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Shafik was denied to fly for London yesterday.

Previously, after five months of staying behind bars, Shafik walked out from Kashimpur prison in Gazipur on September 6.
