Sexual harassment: Ahsanullah teacher sent to jail

A Dhaka court today sent Mahfuzur Rashid Ferdous, the sacked teacher of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, to jail after rejecting his bail petition in a case filed over sexual harassment.

Metropolitan Magistrate Amirul Haider Chowdhury passed the order after his lawyer moved a bail petition in the case.

On May 4, Ferdous was arrested from his Eskaton apartment in Dhaka following a case filed by an AUST alumnus.

After Ferdous confessed to his offence on May 7, another court sent him to jail after rejecting his bail petition.

Two days after his confession, Ahsanullah university authorities terminated Ferdous.
